Projects

Harmony Design and Engineering works on a wide variety of projects for private, municipal, professional, and federal clients. An example of some of our civil engineering, land planning, water resource consulting, and structural engineering projects include:

Teton Valley Community School - Victor, Idaho

The Teton Valley Community School (TVCS) is a non-profit independent school located in Victor, Idaho.  The existing school campus is approximately 2-acres in size and includes two buildings, a barn, a storage shed, a yurt, and outdoor play and garden spaces.   The proposed school campus master plan, which includes an international award winning design, includes five additional classroom buildings, parking areas and the relocation of the existing barn and chicken coop.  The classrooms are approximately 1150-sf in size and the estimated construction budget is $330,000 per classroom. Harmony Design and Engineering is completing the civil engineering, structural engineering, and LEED consulting for this community oriented project.

Red Barn – Driggs, Idaho

Red Barn is a residential development located on 80-acres within the town of Driggs, Idaho. Red Barn's focus is environmental sustainability, social responsibility, diversity, safety, and the creation of a healthy and friendly neighborhood. Harmony Design & Engineering is the land planner and civil engineer for this traditional neighborhood development. Red Barn features a range of residential lots at a variety of price points as well as commercial, live-work opportunities. The neighborhood was designed so each lot retained solar access throughout the year. The project includes a 5-acre community park that provides public access to the scenic Teton Creek as well as stormwater retention and floodplain protection. A LOMR was filed and approved by FEMA for this property and Red Barn is in the preliminary planning stages.

“I adamantly believe Harmony Design’s participation with Red Barn has been the cornerstone of its success.”  - Gabe Rogel, Developer of Red Barn

Hydrology, Hydraulic & Floodplain Mapping – Mitchell County, Iowa

This project provided updated flood hazard data to help the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the local, regional, and state agencies deal with existing and increased flood hazards caused by the 2008 floods in Iowa.  Flood Recovery Maps in digital GIS format with accompanying reports were produced for sixteen Iowa counties.  This project had a very short time-line and Harmony Design & Engineering worked closely with a large project team headed by URS Corporation to get the project finished on time and within budget.  Harmony Design & Engineering analyzed and processed topographic data, conducted hydrologic analysis using ArcHydro, conducted hydraulic analysis using HEC-RAS and HEC-GeoRAS, and produced flood hazard delineations for 469 stream miles in Mitchell County.   All data produced met FEMA Data Capture Standards and FEMA’s Guidance and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners.

Teton Basin Ice & Recreation – Victor, Idaho

Harmony Design & Engineering collaborated with the City of Victor, the Victor community, and the Teton Basin Ice & Recreation (TBIR) non-profit organization to develop a site plan for this ice arena and multi-use facility located in Victor, Idaho. Community input was gathered through a series of design charrettes held over a one week period. This facility will provide recreation opportunities for community members during all seasons in Teton Valley. Click here to read more about this facility.
