We currently are looking for a natural resource/wetland specialist, licensed land surveyor, and a land survey CAD technician for our Driggs, Idaho, or Jackson, Wyoming, offices. Senior Natural Resource Specialist/Wetland Scientist
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in the environmental and natural resource field in the western United States, preferably within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem
- B.S. in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil and Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field
- Certified Professional Wetland Scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists
- Ability to work independently and be the department lead for all natural resource projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, outline tasks, establish and track budgets, develop schedules
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills as you will be working closely with engineers, planners, and surveyors in a team and directly with clients
- Must have high attention to detail and good leadership skills
- Demonstrate willingness, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Conduct field investigations for wetland delineations, natural resource inventories, wildlife habitat assessments, ESA-listed plant surveys, community type mapping, and noxious weed surveys
- Prepare reports and GIS maps for Natural Resource Analysis (NRA) and Aquatic Resource Inventories (ARI)
- Conduct impact assessments and analysis for development projects utilizing GIS analysis and other tools
- Design habitat enhancement and restoration plans, riparian/wetland restoration and compensatory mitigation plans, assist with stream and watershed restoration plans
- Lead clients through federal and local permitting
- Perform post-project ecological monitoring
Professional Land Surveyor
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of land survey experience.
- PLS or ability to obtain PLS within 12 months of employment.
- Knowledge of the Public Land Survey System.
- Experience with GPS receivers and controllers as well as Robotic total station experience, including Trimble Business Center.
- Strong knowledge of boundary, construction, and topographic surveying.
- Have a good understanding of construction plans and subdivision plats.
- Have good written and oral communication skills and be a team player.
- Can physically perform the requirements of the position (must be able to lift 50 pounds and travel through rugged terrain).
- Demonstrate the willingness, enthusiasm, and positive attitude to show up on time.
- Work outdoors in inclement weather as well as in a professional office environment.
- Microsoft Office, drafting, and geomatic software skills are a plus, but are not mandatory.
- Willingness to travel to remote job sites for extended periods of time up to 3 weeks.
- A current driver’s license in good standing & ability to operate company owned vehicles. Ability to operate watercraft on rivers a plus.
- Work in the field on topographic, boundary, transportation, and construction surveys primarily as a one-person field crew, but occasionally on a two-person crew.
- Take accurate and clear field notes and sketches for use and review by project managers and design staff.
- Perform field calculations that may be needed for construction, including closing and adjusting level loops and field traverses.
- Perform basic office duties, including data reduction, field note scanning and filing, calculations, data checks.
- Use proper safety equipment and follow proper field safety procedures.
- Help ensure company equipment, including vehicles, are in proper working order and are maintained regularly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Land Survey CAD Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum: High School Diploma with 2 years experience with CAD drafting with Civil 3D, Carlson, or related software.
- Preferred: Associates degree or 2 years of education in engineering technology, civil engineering, land surveying, geomatics, computer-aided drafting, or other related field with 2 years experience with CAD drafting with Civil 3D, Carlson, or related software.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC) a plus.
- Understand the Public Land Survey System, boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys, and subdivision platting.
- Willingness to learn and a good attitude.
- Have good written and oral communication skills and be a team player.
- Demonstrate the enthusiasm and positive attitude to show up on time.
- Excellent concentration and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Work under the supervision of and report to the Survey Department Manager.
- Work in a professional office environment drafting topographic, boundary, transportation, and construction surveys.
- Interpret field notes, sketches, and photos taken by field crews to inform survey maps.
- Perform field calculations that may be needed for construction, including closing and adjusting level loops and field traverses.
- Perform basic office duties, including data reduction, field note scanning and filing, calculations, data checks.
